About Me

Britt Benson, LPC, LMHC, is committed to authentically and ethically serving individuals from diverse backgrounds who are struggling with mental health concerns, substance use disorder, and other chronic illness. Britt provides counseling to adults and couples, and has extensive experience with recovery support and co-occurring disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Britt’s practice is based in New Orleans but offers teletherapy to clients across Louisiana and Washington state.

Her person-centered and existential approach to counseling provides a non-judgmental space to explore the uncertainty, tension, and paradox inherent to being human. Britt flexibly and intentionally integrates interpersonal, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed interventions. Using an intersectional framework, she seeks to understand and collaboratively address barriers and strengths unique to each client. Britt works particularly well with clients who have been in therapy before and found relief or new skills, but are looking to be challenged to dig for deeper insights.

Britt is committed to expanding her skillset by attending multi-day somatic and EMDR trainings summer of 2025.

Originally hailing from Seattle, Washington, Britt enjoys travel, hiking, running, reading, and spending time with her family and elderly rescue greyhound, Luanne.
